A Sunday Surprise

When people arrived at the Fellowship a few Sundays ago (December 17th
to be exact), they were in for a surprise. And it turned out to be a royal
treat! At first, there were lots of quizzical looks. Why was Don sitting
on a folding chair in the middle of the parking lot? And what was that
strange-looking wooden thing? But when they got out of their cars, they
could hear the music and just had to go over and see what it was all
about.
There was Don all decked out in his favorite winter holidays tie,
grinding away on his hurdy-gurdy and pressing the keys to play Christmas
melodies and entertain his listeners. He fielded many excited and curious
questions about the instrument and then brought out a second and even more
strange music maker: a psaltery. Once again he treated his listeners to
Christmas melodies that played on the strings of their hearts. As people
left the parking lot and walked toward the Fellowship building, you could
see the joy in their hearts by the smiles on their faces
