October 30th - Ruth Semrau El Dia De Los Muertos From the beginning of time, we have felt the need to explain the mystery of life and death. We have created rituals to try and give meaning to human existence. For example, since pre-Columbian times, el dia de los muertos has been celebrated in Mexico. On this day, the living remembered their departed friends and relatives. The Christian church absorbed this ritual along with similar ones from other cultures and it lives on in present times.Today we will remember our beloved dead. Bring photographs or other mementos to place on our Dia de los Muertos altar during the Joys and Concerns section of our service. In conjunction with this observance, we will look at the process of writing of an Ethical Will.

October Housekeepers Sherry & Jerry Beecher Juneau & Steve xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx From the President's Corner Huey Mitchell Greetings Members and Friends, September 18th I attended a Presidents Dinner at the First Unitarian Church of Dallas hosted by the North Texas Association of Unitarian Universalist Societies (NTAUUS). The purpose of the Association is the promotion and coordination of Unitarian Universalism in North Texas. NTAUUS currently supports 13 Fellowships in the 57 north Texas counties, which includes Gregg County. After dinner we participated in a two hour meeting. The purpose of the meeting was to improve the current channels of communications between NTAUUS and the supporting fellowships. Unfortunately, I must admit my depth of understanding of NTAUUS was limited to the fact that we paid the Association dues each year. continued on Page 7 ..... see President's Corner |
