I GIVE UP
Jonna Anderson
I received the following email from one of our many "sons," who is in the
Air Force and stationed in Korea - he's quite exercised about a motorcycle
AF recruiting has purchased despite budget cuts that are affecting him on
a daily basis. I thought I should share Brian's email with all of you. By
the way, Brian's subject line read "I give up" - I hate to think that's
true, but I know he's a frustrated young man.
Here's his email:
The Air Force has been undergoing a HUGE budget cut recently, seriously
effecting(sic) the quality of life of military members, and hindering the
job performances of those protecting our nation.
In Korea alone, Airmen and soldiers are going weeks at a time with no hot
water for showers, no issued cold weather gear for the winter months
(Korean winters reach temperatures well below 0), no office supplies to
perform duties, etc. When asked for these essential items, the Air Force
replies, "All our funding is being cut in order to fund Operations Iraqi
Freedom and Enduring Freedom".
Soldiers in the desert are currently having to write home and have family
members send items such as toilet paper and soap, due to low budgets.
I received this comforting e-mail from my First Sergeant this morning,
which will help me sleep at night. This email assures me that the Air
Force is spending their budget (YOUR TAX DOLLARS) very effectively.
This is what I received:
If you are into motorcycles here is the AF bike for you. This bike was
made for the USAF at a cost of $100,000 (regular cost would be $250,000).
USAF Recruiting brought it to Tyndall for show. This bike was made for
display only.
I hope you find this as ridiculous as I do. Please remember this when
you're writing the check to Uncle Sam. -- Brian

Longview Habitat For Humanity Women Build 2005
Sky Mitchell
Yup! They're at it again. Just when you think they know their place,
they go an get all uppity again. Just because they built one before, they
think they can build another house. Hmmph! When will these women learn
how to behave ? NEVER, I HOPE!!!!!!!!!
The generous people of the Longview area have helped raise enough funds to
start another Women Build project. Since I have bent enough nails, hit my
thumb and various fingers enough times, can be trusted to go to the tool
shed and come back with the right implement, and learned how to drink out
of a paper cone that melts as you drink from it, I am now training to be a
Crew Leader on the 2005 Women Build Project. Therefore, or as they say in
Latin, ergo, I will need a Crew! I am inviting all interested young and
old ladies to join me on the roof , on the scaffold, on the ground -
wherever you feel most free. All tools and materials supplied.
