Game Night

We held our first Game Night in our new building on Friday, November 4th. Tina brought a DVD game; sort of a TV version of Trivial Pursuit. That attracted the "in" crowd. With a little help from her friends, the TV was set up, Julie was the moderator, and the games began! There was much shouting and haggling and hectoring - but most of all, laughter.

Meanwhile, those of us who don't have a clue about TV programs (that was what most of the questions were about) played a new card game the Dick and Linda brought. They discovered it about a year ago and played it all the way across country and back this summer on their trip to Seattle.

We concluded the evening with one of Julie's favorite games, Catch Phrase that involves a ticking timer that can render articulate grown ups tongue-tied, wordless and clueless. We were laughing so hard, there were tears streaming down our faces. Even now, when I recall Linda's totally frustrated, "What have insects got to do with it?!" I start laughing all over again.

The first Friday in every month is game night. So why don't you bring your favorite game and a snack (if you want to) and come join us for us for some fun and games!

Reflecting on Housekeeping Duty

Julie,

It was an honor to serve today. Thank you for giving me the opportunity.

The UFL's Religious Education classes will sponsor a Mitten Tree for the holiday season. Bring mittens, gloves, scarves, caps to decorate the tree. Just before Christmas they will be distributed to families in need. Contact Sheila McElroy for more information.

Happy Holidays

It's time for our annual winter holidays party. Gayle and Al Heard will host the fun-filled evening this year at their home.

As usual, we will entertain and amuse ourselves. Please bring a poem, story, song, dance, or musical instrument to contribute to the entertainment. And since it is Christmas, everyone will bring a gift to exchange. Not an ordinary gift. A white elephant gift. In other words, something ridiculous. Something you'd try to get rid of at a garage sale. But wrap it up like it's a Fabergé egg. We'll teach you the exchange rules at the party. But remember, you have to bring a wrapped gift in order to play the game. No "to" and "from" tags necessary. For those of you who attended last year's party: Remember the Indian?

Gayle and Al will supply all the libations (except absinthe and the like). The food will be pot luck. Bring your favorite holiday dish. Here's your official invitation
