from page 1 ... Clean-Up Crew

During the Spring Clean-Up we proved we are close to unstoppable when it comes to picking up trash when Julie and Jay ignored the boundary line at the end of our territory and continued on towards Daingerfield. Bob had to jump in his car and haul them back. On top of that, Julie won a huge cash prize plus a fabulous whisk broom and crumb catcher gift set. The rest of the crew enjoyed sweating and finding lots of potentially useful stuff and interesting art objects. Should you wish to join in on the fun, you can email (skysong@etex.net) or call (903-7997-4325) Sky to sign up. The party will start at Annie's Attic on Judson Road at 9:00 AM and last about two hours (depending on how wild and crazy it gets). We also need volunteers to make two large day-glo orange signs with black lettering that read: Unitarians At Work.

from page 1 ...Spain

At 2 we ate lunch, with siesta from 3:30-5:00. We met sometimes at 5 for story telling, jokes, games (my favorite was 'telephone'), and competitions (always 2 Anglos and 2 Spaniards at a table). One time we had to invent a product with a logo and slogan. Ours was the Cubegg (the unbreakable, stackable egg.) Another time we were issued some skewers, toothpicks, and wine corks (believe me, there were PLENTY of those available everyday) and had to see who could build the tallest structure in 3 minutes. From either 5 or 6 till 8 we had one-on-ones unless you were in a play that night. During this time you could play games with your Spaniard and another couple. The Catch- Phrase game I took was a big hit. At 8 we had 4 plays during the week, more presentations, and a welcoming party. For the play I was in (3 Anglos and 3 Spaniards) we had three hours to come up with an idea, write a script and practice it! Two plays were scripted and two weren't. One night after dinner (9 to 10:30 - could they eat any later???) we had a guitarist from Madrid who played and everyone danced. Another night after dinner we had an incantation ceremony (a bit Pagan) and drank something made from grain alcohol, sugar, coffee beans and lemon rind (involved burning off some of it.) see Spain page 3
