1) Paul announced that Frank
Herbert had been nominated for president for the 2004-2005 fiscal year.
Fellowship members voted unanimously to give him the job. Frank graciously
and humbly accepted. (Still waters run deep. Keep an eye on this guy.)
Seriously, we know Frank is eminently capable and are looking forward to
his leadership.
And, most definitely, kudos to Sherry Kircus for the outstanding job she has done during her tenure. Her excellent efforts were always delightful 2004 Longview High School Distinguished Alumni
Yup! You’re right. That’s our very own Robert Cargill and Marolen Mullinax. They were recently honored at the 2004 Distinguished Alumni Luncheon. Robert is a 1951 graduate of LHS and Marolen graduated in 1961. They have brought honor to their high school because of their outstanding contributions through their work and generosity. More importantly, they have brought opportunity and hope to the people they have worked with and helped. Join us some Sunday and get to know them a little better. You’ll discover how wonderfully ordinary and extraordinarily wonderful they are! New Members Continued

Michael Writes (from page 1) I am so excited about this opportunity to offer encouraging, nurturing, and meaningful interaction with the children of the UU fellowship. I can’t even imagine the extent of what I stand to learn. I strongly believe that the most significant skill one can develop at a young age is the power to think. I consider this exercise to be of such great importance largely due to its common absence I have observed throughout my community. In my own life, I strive to continually both observe and respond to my environment in a personal, meaningful and creative way, hoping for my actions to inspire such drive in others. My creative output is channeled, in large part, through my art and music. When I was young I developed ties to a punk rock skateboard subculture. This aspect of my background continues to influence my style of expression. I write and record my own music. My musical taste remains greatly (though not exclusively) influenced by punk rock. Weather permitting, I try to get outside and skateboard as often as possible. I am a photography major, currently studying at Kilgore College. My photography takes a fine art approach to photojournalism. I am currently working on a documentary series on backyard pool skaters across Texas. I am thrilled to be a part of such a diverse and inviting community as the UUs and look forward to developing personal relationships with all the UU children as well as adults. I don’t know how well this has communicated who I am but I look forward to more interaction with everyone and remain open to any questions .Sincerely, Michael Herbert
